You and your family are invited to Saluki Family Weekend at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, September 26, 27 & 28, 2008. The weekend features many traditional events as well as new ones designed to provide you and your family a fun-filled weekend. The students, faculty and staff at SIUC have spent many hours planning events to ensure you have a wonderful time in Carbondale and develop memories that will last a lifetime. Student Recreation Center
8:00 am - 10:00 pm, Student Recreation Center
Family members of students are invited to tour and use the Student Recreation Center facilities for FREE. Please visit the information desk located on the upper level for details. A current SIUC student with ID must accompany family members.
Family Weekend Registration Area
9:00 am -1:00 pm, East Entrance, Student Center
Stop by the Saluki Family Weekend Registration Area to sign in and get the latest update of weekend events. Students and their families can register to win various door prizes and free refreshments will be available. Sponsored by the Student Programming Council Special Events Committee.
Saluki Family Association Brunch
10:00 am - 12:00 noon, Student Center Ballroom B
Members of and those interested in the Saluki Family Association are invited to join us for a delicious Southern brunch and welcome program hosted by the Saluki Family Association.
The menu consists of Vegetarian Quiche, Scrambled Eggs w/Cheese, Bacon, Shredded Hash Browns, Fresh Fruit, Muffins, Croissants w/Butter & Jelly, Petite Danish, Biscuits w/Assorted Jelly, Coffee, Orange Juice, Apple Juice and Hot Tea.
Tickets purchased in advance are $12.00 for adults, $11.00 SIUC students and seniors (age 60 and older) and $6.00 for children (age 5 to 10). Ages 4 and under are free.
Tickets purchased the day of the event are $13.00 for adults, $12.00 SIUC students and seniors (age 60 and older) and $7.00 for children (age 5 to 10). Ages 4 and under are free.

Campus Tours
10:00 & 11:00 am,12:00 noon, 1:00 & 2:00 pm, East Entrance of Student Center
Ride the tour train around the beautiful SIUC campus and listen to a 45 minute guided tour narrated by our very own student tour guides. Seats are limited so first come, first served. Sponsored by the SPC Special Events Committee.
Family Weekend Craft Sale
10:00 am - 5:00 pm, First Floor, Student Center
Regional vendors will be available for you to enjoy early holiday shopping or look for that unique souvenir. Choose from handmade candles, ceramics, photographs and other crafts. Sponsored by the Student Center Craft Shop.
Raku Pottery Firing
10:00am - 3:00 pm South Patio, Student Center
While touring the Family Weekend Craft Sale stop and glaze a ceramic vessel. Then watch it get fired Raku Style. Cost is $3.00 each. Sponsored by the Student Center Craft Shop.
University Bookstore
10:00 am - 6:00 pm, First Floor, Student Center
Look for great deals and a large selection of SIUC merchandise and apparel at the University's convenient bookstore.
Bowling and Billiards Hours
10:00 am - 12:00 midnight, First Floor, Student Center
SIUC students and your family can enjoy student rate price bowling and billiards all day, all weekend. A current SIUC student with ID must accompany family members.
University Housing Residence Hall Dining
11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Lentz and Trueblood Dining Halls
Come join the students of the residence halls for brunch between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Tickets available at entrance to each dining hall. Cost is $7.99 per person plus tax (all you care to eat).
Boat Dock
12:00 noon - 6:00 pm Campus Lake
Visit Campus Lake and take advantage of FREE boat rentals including: paddle boats, canoes and rowboats (weather permitting). A current SIUC student with a student ID must accompany family members.
72nd Annual IGC Greek Sing
1:00 pm –2:30 pm, Steps of Shryock Auditorium
Members of SIUC Greek fraternities and sororities perform some of their favorite tunes in this fun and spirited competition. Rain Location is in the Student Center. Sponsored by the Inter-Greek Council.
Saluki Family Tailgate 2008
3:00 pm, Saluki Row, South of Stadium
Please join Carbondale Mainstreet as we welcome Saluki families to Carbondale on Saluki Family Weekend 2008. With help from the Carbondale Community Arts and Saluki Pride Committee, and a prime tailgating location, we have a fun-filled day planned, including art projects, Aztec Latino dancing, games, inflatable bouncy gym and much more! Pre-Game Tailgate Activities

Bring your family and your grill to several of the open parking lots surrounding McAndrew Stadium for fun tailgate activities. If tailgating isn't for you, stop by the Student Center featuring everything from McDonald's to Starbucks.
Saluki Football vs. Northern Iowa
6:00 pm, McAndrew Stadium
Come cheer on the Football Salukis, as they take on Northern Iowa in exciting Gateway Conference football. Reserved seat tickets are $19.00 for adults, $8.00 for SIUC students and $8.00 for high school age and under. General admission tickets are FREE for SIUC students with I.D., $19.00 for adults and $8.00 for high school age and under. Tickets for Saluki Football are also available through Ticketmaster.
