Class and Workshop Overview

Every semester, the Craft Shop organizes a series of instructional courses to teach the public how to do specific crafts, each taught by our knowledgeable staff and/or hired working professionals. We are constantly adding new and original courses to meet your creative demands. Please view our current Workshop Brochure for times, prices, and availability.

Private Lessons

Voice

Learn to develop your natural talent. Sing, listen and learn from popular music. Beginning and intermediate levels.

Guitar

These lessons are designed for those who prefer not to meet in a classroom situation or those who have advanced beyond the beginning level.

Piano

Learn to read music and play the piano. Private lessons are for beginning and intermediate level participants.

Violin

Learn to read music and play the violin. Private lessons are for beginning and intermediate level participants.

Ceramics

Learn to throw on the wheel, fire, and/or glaze pottery in our Ceramics Studio. Private lessons are for beginning and intermediate level participants.

Mat Cutting

Learn to professionally cut mat boards for pictures on a C&H cutter. Private lessons are for beginning and intermediate level participants.

Other Private Lessons

We offer private lessons in most of the workshop areas offered in our brochures. Lessons are available mornings, afternoons and evenings depending on the availability of the instructors. They are open to all ages. Please contact the Craft Shop for an appointment.

Cost: $12.00 - $17.50 per half-hour

How to Register

Registration may be made over the phone by calling (618) 453-3636 or (618) 453-5209, in person, or by mail at the Student Center Craft Shop, 1255 Lincoln Drive Carbondale, IL 62901.

The Craft Shop accepts major credit cards, checks, Debit Dawg, and of course cash. Please make checks payable to SIUC, include a note with your name, address, phone #, class title, section, and the number of participants.

Fee must be paid one day prior to all classes. Class size may be limited.
