Saluki Spokes community Bike Watch
Do you cycle on campus? Do you worry about the safety and security of your bicycle?
Saluki Spokes' Bike Watch is designed to combat bicycle theft on the SIUC Campus by getting the community involved. This works like the “Amber Alert” system on a small scale. The community helps find the bike and the quicker the information is posted the better the results.
Here's how it works:
Before your bike is stolen:
- Register your bike with the SIUC Campus Police office
- Send us an This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it stating you are interested, so that we can add you to the list of participants
- Take a picture of your bike, and record down the serial number, make, model, color, defining features, etc. (if you need help, come to the Craft Shop!)
- Report it to the Saluki Spokes Bike Watch Announcement Service
- Saluki Spokes will contact all members with a posting containing all information
- Members help get the words out and help look for your bike
- When found, the owners will be contacted. Security may need to be called to retrieve the bike.
In addressing this issue, the SIUC Saluki Spokes program hopes to enhance the option of bicycling for all students, faculty, and staff here at SIUC, as we all know that bicycling is a healthy, affordable, environmentally friendly way to get where we need to go everyday!
Remember, the more participation we have, the more successful the program will be!
