The Student Center Honors Henry Villani
On June 23, 2008 the SIUC Student Center honored Henry Villani in memoriam for 29 years of service as manager of the Bowling and Billiards area. A photo with nameplate was hung near the entrance of the area. He was the first manager of the area and served under the first two Student Center Directors, Clarence “Doc” Dougherty and John W. Corker.
Henry was credited with starting the Monday Night Faculty/Staff League which is still bowling strong to this day and named in his honor. His family stated that the Bowling and Billiards area was his life and that he loved his job in the Student Center.
The event was attended by family and friends including his wife, Minnie Villani of Carbondale, and two daughters and their families, Mary Beth Lemke of California and Ruth Ann O’Kane of Massachusetts. Son Hank Villani of Mt. Vernon was unable to attend to event.
