The Student Center announces that new technology is available for use in its meeting rooms.
Last Fall, Smartboards were installed in the Mississippi and Missouri rooms on the second floor of the Student Center. Manufactured by Smart Technologies (link), these interactive whiteboards allow professors, staff and students to annotate PowerPoint presentations and other computer-based programs or web sites on a large screen. In addition, the presenter can easily switch back and forth between DVDs or videotapes and their presentation. If needed, Smartboard training for Faculty and Staff is available by appointment through the Office of Instruction Support Services at 618.453.1014. Rooms with Smartboards and the Smartboards themselves can be reserved through the Student Center Scheduling Office. Student Center Smartboards are Assisted Equipment and prices are posted at the Student Center website.
Also, this past Spring at the 2008 Student Affairs Celebration of Service breakfast, Thomas P. Connelley (Technical Director, Student Center Audiovisual) and William R. Bruns (Webmaster, Student Center Marketing and Graphics) were awarded with a Student Affairs Innovation Award to purchase a Polycom videoconferencing system for the Student Center. This system is portable, and can be used to conduct videoconference from almost any Student Center Meeting Room to any other location in the world operating a H.323 videoconferencing system via the Internet. The videoconferencing system is Assisted Equipment and prices are posted at the Student Center website.
